I am Okram Premjit Singh, President Maiyon Agro LLP. I have completed my Master In Microbiology from Bangalore University, PGDBM in Industrial Relation and Personnel management from Bangalore and LLB from Manipur University. I have more than 6+ years of experience in IT Industry. I sacrificed the opportunity of working in big Giant like IBM, BSNL to pursue the dream in Business. I started working in the said innovations since the year 2017 and has overcome several hurdles in terms of trial, testing and field trial of the product developed. I ran to every post and pillar for the product to be tested and to be helped but i was bullied and even name calling by experts in Agriculture. I ran and raised the fund and send all the testing to be done to a third party laboratory for the product testing and now we are positive with the result and going ahead with the market trial and testing. The company is now trade marked and has received the grant from Start UP Manipur, RABI from CHF Pashighat, BIG NE from KIIT TBI.
The name of My start up is Maiyon Agro LLP.The company is registered in the year 2021 and is now trademark registered company. The company was started after the founder suffered heavy losses due to the frequent changes of feed in poultry because of the untimely availability of fresh feed which was making the cost multiply and suffered heavy loss. The idea was introduced to the founder by Animal and Veterinary Scientist RK Sanjukta from ICAR Shillong.
This idea came to the founder because of the unavailability of fresh feed timely to the founder when he was doing the poultry farming. While looking for the alternatives Mealworm was introduced by Senior Scientist Animal and Veterinary Science ICAR Shilong. After the worm was introduced the founder perfected the breeding and harvesting and rearing and application of the worms in feed and in allied areas.
The company is looking forward to address the loss by farmers in farming and increasing feed cost by replacing the protein in feed with insect protein for animal and fish food, as well as the fertilizer industry, in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way by leaving a very small carbon foot print. Farmers can multiple farming as well as use the frass and excreta for use as Natural fertiliser. The company has created technology that allows vertical production of the yellow mealworm beetle Tenebrio molitor.
