Our Profile

I am Okram Premjit Singh, President, Maiyon Agro LLP. I have completed my Master’s degree in Microbiology from Bangalore University, PGDBM in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from Bangalore, and LLB from Manipur University. I have more than six years of experience in the IT industry.

I chose to sacrifice opportunities to work with major organisations such as IBM and BSNL to pursue my entrepreneurial dream. Since 2017, I have been working on innovative solutions in the agri-sector, overcoming multiple challenges related to trials, testing and field validation of the developed product.

During the development phase, I approached several institutions and experts for support and testing; however, the journey involved significant obstacles, including repeated rejections. Despite these challenges, I independently raised funds and conducted product testing through certified third-party laboratories.

The test results have been positive, and the company is now moving forward with market trials and product validation. The company is officially trade-marked and has received grants from Startup Manipur, RKVY-RAFTAAR (CHF Pasighat), and BIG-NE under KIIT TBI.

The scheme focuses on making farming a profitable economic activity, strengthening farmers’ efforts, mitigating risks, promoting agri-business entrepreneurship, creating pre- and post-harvest infrastructure, and providing flexibility to states in planning and implementation.

The scheme was launched in 2007 and was renamed RKVY-RAFTAAR in 2018-19. Funding is shared between the Central and State Governments in a 60:40 ratio. Proposals under the scheme can be submitted to the state government or to SFAC at the national level for examination and approval.
